Reclaiming the High Ground:
Stories We Live By, Visions We Create, Actions We Take
August 6-8, 2004 is a unique opportunity to spend a weekend at Esalen with one of the most original and wise thinkers of our time. Riane Eisler has ignited the visions and actions of individuals and organizations worldwide. An award-winning author (The Chalice and The Blade), psychosocial researcher, and social activist, Eisler has inspired people around the globe with her cultural transformation work that integrates the personal, political, economic, ecological, and spiritual.
Eisler's passion takes abstract-sounding words like "national," "global," and " moral" and makes them catch fire. In this workshop she will offer positive alternatives to the fear-based stories and politics that surround and limit us in our sense of self, our families, our communities, and our world. Drawn from three decades of research into the psychosocial dynamics of human behavior, her work integrates the the mental, emotional, and spiritual in a fragmented world. This presentation will focus on how we can create a partnership-based worldview and society. The socially-oriented workshop offers:
Come and find out how you can make a difference in creating a better world.
Riane Eisler is best known for her bestseller The Chalice and The Blade, hailed by anthropologist Ashley Montagu as "the most important book since Darwin's On the Origin of Species” and novelist Isabel Allende as "one of those magnificent books that can transform us." Her most recent book is the award-winning The Power of Partnership: Seven Relationships That Will Change Your Life, hailed by Dr. Christiane Northrup as "the right medicine for virtually everything that ails our society and planet," and Marianne Williamson as "the map to a world that works for all of us."
For information and registration or call Esalen at 831-667-3005.
If you wish to be put on a the list for this workshop before the catalog comes out in April, you can download the reservation form from www.esalen.org and send it in with a deposit.

Stopping intimate violence is foundational to a peaceful and equitable world
SAIV
The Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence
copyright 1999
is a project initiated by
Dr. Riane Eisler and Nobel Peace Laureate Betty Williams
Being violently abused in our most intimate relations is a horrendous human rights violation and the ultimate betrayal of trust, devastating the mind, body, and spirit. It is also a school for violence, as it is in intimate relationships that we first learn and continue to practice either respect for human rights or the acceptance of abuse as "just the way things are."
The goal of SAIV is to stop the secrecy and silence shrouding these violent acts, thereby speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. This will lay the foundation for a more peaceful and equitable world. We can achieve this goal when spiritual communities unite with courage and love.
We invite you to join the SAIV
Council and your organization to sponsor SAIV to protect the most basic human
right: the right to safety in our own homes.

Goddard College
An
Innovative Leader in Progressive Education
Offers a Master of Arts in
Education with a concentration in
Partnership Education
Educating for Caring, Peace and Social Justice
The M.A. concentration in
Partnership Education aims to help students develop a broad, critical
understanding of the complex issues involved in educating for social justice and
cultural transformation. Partnership Education is a deliberate, coherent
approach to cultivating the values of a partnership society in educational
practice. By extending your program for a semester, you can include teacher
licensure.
HALLMARKS OF A GODDARD EDUCATION ARE:
Individualized Study Plans: At Goddard, students are regarded as unique individuals. Students define their topic of inquiry and then, in close collaboration with a faculty advisor, self-design their own course of study. This personalized approach assures that the focus of a student’s academic work is on something that is deeply engaging and meaningful to their lives.
Low Residency Format: Goddard originated the intensive residency format designed for working adults. At the beginning of each semester students attend an 8-day residency on the Goddard campus in Plainfield, Vermont during which they create that semester’s study plan. They then return home to work independently on their plans while participating in a close mentoring relationship with a faculty advisor.
The Goddard Experience: Goddard’s learning model is unique and challenging. It is best suited for serious students who are internally motivated. Goddard is an intentionally small, personal and diverse learning community. Our graduate experience is collaborative, energizing and empowering. It creates an enduring impact while expanding minds, enlarging skills, inspiring transformative action and enriching lives. Given its caliber, and when compared to other colleges and universities, Goddard is remarkably affordable.

Goddard College is a pioneer in the field of emancipatory progressive education. Our aim is to encourage students to become creative, passionate, lifelong learners working and living with an earnest concern for others and the welfare of the Earth.
“Once we understand the cultural, social and political configurations of the partnership and domination models, we can more effectively develop the educational methods, materials and institutions that foster a less violent, more equitable, democratic, and sustainable future.”

Course on Partnership:
California
Institute of Integral Studies
Co-sponsored by the Women's Spirituality Program and
Transformative Learning and Change
Course: PARW7820 Cultural Transformation: Partnership, Peace and Prosperity
Instructors: Mara Kellera PhD. and Alfonso Montuori PhD.
We will first explore several models, ancient and contemporary, of partnership cultures, including ancient Crete, the contemporary Hopi of North American Southwest, and Scandinavian countries. We will formulate a multi-faceted understanding of partnership principles and then apply this to several institutional settings of our own culture(s), including family, education, work, politics, ecology, religion, and spirituality. Our purpose is to explore in which ways practices of partnership can contribute to greater peace and prosperity of all.
